Students and employers at career fair

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, 麻豆影视’s Applied Technologies Department hosted a fall open house and career fair in the college’s Williams Hall.

Current students attended the event to meet potential employers and had the chance to discuss a variety of full-time job openings and internship opportunities. Several students attended company presentations and some participated in on-site job interviews.

Over 70 regional, national and international companies visited campus for the career fair, including GlobalFoundries, National Grid, Amtrak, Eastern Heating and Cooling, Drive Garvey and Keeler Motor Cars, to name a few.

“We are always thrilled to host events like this one on our campus,’’ said the college’s Officer in Charge Louis Coplin. “Applying for jobs and meeting employers after college can be intimidating, so giving students the opportunity to do so before they even reach graduation can really lift a weight off their shoulders. It’s wonderful to see these students feeling excited about their future careers, and we are very thankful for the companies who took time out of their day to come to campus to provide them with job insights.”

Hudson Valley’s Applied Technologies department offers a variety of academic programs, including Automotive Management A.A.S., Automotive Technical Services A.O.S., Automotive Technical Services-Autobody Repair A.O.S., Clean Energy Management A.A.S., Electric and Autonomous Vehicles A.O.S. and Certificate, Electrical Construction and Maintenance A.O.S., Heating/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technical Services A.O.S., Mechatronics A.O.S., and Overhead Electric Line Worker Certificate.

There are 523 students enrolled in Applied Technologies programs this fall, which is 34.8 percent of the college’s School of 麻豆影视 student population. Applied Technologies programs prepare students for a wide range of skilled technology careers. Each one provides up-to-date training labs and equipment for hands-on experience, allowing many graduates to enter the workforce directly after graduation.
